About The Role

As a business analyst within NYSTEC’s information technology (IT) Project Management Office, your day-to-day role will support IT project initiatives, assist with governance efforts, and improve project management processes. This role will collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze data, and enhance the efficiency of IT projects. Serving as a business analyst, your role will be crucial in ensuring alignment between IT projects and organizational objectives, supporting process improvement efforts, and maintaining compliance with PMO standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.
  • Conduct gap analyses to identify areas for process improvement within the PMO.
  • Assist in defining project scope, objectives, and success criteria.
  • Translate business needs into clear and actionable requirements for project teams.
  • Analyze IT project data to identify trends, risks, and optimization opportunities.
  • Support the development and standardization of project templates, reports, and dashboards.
  • Assist in refining project intake, prioritization, and resource allocation processes.
  • Provide insights to enhance PMO governance, compliance, and reporting standards.
  • Ensure project documentation aligns with PMO policies and compliance standards (e.g., CMMI, SOX, etc.).
  • Monitor project performance metrics and prepare reports for leadership.
  • Support risk management efforts by tracking project issues and dependencies.
  • Collaborate with project managers, IT teams, and business leaders to ensure project alignment.
  • Assist in training and onboarding initiatives related to PMO tools and processes.
  • Document and communicate business process changes to relevant teams.

About You

Required Qualifications

  • Possess strong computer skills, including experience using Microsoft applications (e.g., Project, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, SharePoint) or equivalent.
  • Understands NYSTEC’s mission, brand mindsets, and core values. Able to put the NYSTEC behaviors into practice.
  • Holds a strong understanding of IT project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid).
  • Has experience with project management and business analysis tools (JIRA, Microsoft Project, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience working in IT governance, compliance, or process improvement initiatives.
  • Familiar with CMMI, SOX, ITIL, or COBIT frameworks.
  • Knowledge of Fresh service or other IT service management (ITSM) platforms.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications

  • CBAP, PMI-PBA, or CAPM certification preferred.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, information technology/systems, or a related field with three years of experience as a business analyst, preferably in a PMO or IT project environment. An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and professional experience will be considered.

The target base salary for this position is $60,000 - $82,000 per year. When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including skill set, experience, location, and job-related qualifications.
